Ihre Reise durch Jamaikas Norden enthüllt die Kultur und Geschichte der Insel. Sie besuchen das Charles Town Maroon Museum, um mehr über den Freiheitskampf der Maroons zu erfahren, genießen ein leckeres Mittagessen und schlendern durch das landwirtschaftliche Anwesen Sun Valley, um frisches Obst und Gemüse zu probieren. Jada, eine unserer ortskundigen Tourguides, sagt: „Die jamaikanischen Maroons haben ein stolzes und faszinierendes Erbe. Sie sind Nachkommen versklavter Westafrikaner, die von Plantagen flohen und Gemeinschaften gründeten, die als Maroon Towns bekannt sind. Diese Gemeinschaften bewahrten ihre afrikanischen Wurzeln – die Maroon-Kultur ist bekannt für lebendige Musik, Tanz, Geschichtenerzählen, Kräutermedizin und Küche.“

Unser erster Halt ist die Sun Valley Plantation, eine hübsche kleine Farm. Hier können Sie durch die Gärten schlendern, tropische Blumen bewundern und das hier angebaute Obst und Gemüse probieren. Sie erfahren zudem, wie die Einheimischen hier seit Generationen Landwirtschaft betreiben. Anschließend besuchen Sie die Charles Town Basic School, eine kleine Schule im Herzen der Charles Town Maroon-Gemeinde. Danach erkunden Sie das Charles Town Maroon Museum – Heimat einer Fülle von Artefakten, darunter traditionelle Kleidung, Waffen und Musikinstrumente. Sie erfahren Wissenswertes über den langen Freiheitskampf der Maroons und ihre wichtige Rolle in der Geschichte Jamaikas.

Anschließend ist es Zeit für das Mittagessen. Dank der vielen traditionellen jamaikanischen Gerichte auf der Speisekarte genießen Sie einheimische Speisen in entspannter Atmosphäre mit Blick auf die Küste.

    You need to review the travel agent you are partnered with in Jamaica. This is the 2ndtrip we had book and it was not value for money at all!! It was described as a full day tour by 13:00 we were on our way back. It was stated we would have lunch at a restaurant by the sea, this was a lie it was in a local food stall in an alley way. The actual maroon tour was not a tour just someone speaking to us for about 20 mins with no actual time to look around for ourselves. POOR!! I would like a refund!!

    The visit to the farm was really enjoyable..great host ..Miss Lorna…the visit to the local school was so nice ..the children were so friendly..really lovely children ..the Maroon experience was is little to heavy for us ..a long day..we were picked up at 7am and didn’t have lunch until 3pm..we were not offered any drinks from the host team ..no water or anything on board the bus ..which I think was a big mistake..because of the money I paid for the trip ..

    The bus was too small so very very uncomfortable, the food was too small, I was given a kids portion, the school kids part didn't make sense, wasn't given any beverage in between the day so thank god I had my own. Too much money for what it was.

    Loved the trip! Went to a fruit and vegetable farm tasted and learned about all the produce then went to a local school and then went to a maroon village and their way of life really great to visit the authenticity of Jamaica

Marcus, a local guide, explains “the Blue Mountains are special, not just for their beauty, but for what they give the farming community. The high altitude, the cool climate and the rich soil are a dream for coffee growers.” The trail will take you on a leisurely trek up the mountain, past small family-owned coffee farms. Here, you'll learn more about how farmers have been harvesting ripe coffee cherries by hand, to create the mild, fruity and sweet flavour of Blue Mountain coffee, since the 18th-century. And the scenery here is pretty historic, too, like something out of Jurassic Park – think thick green rainforest dotted with waterfalls, valleys and misty mountain peaks. You'll want to keep your phone handy for pics.After a little over two miles of walking, you'll be rewarded with a cooling dip in the Blue Mountains Whirlpool. Marcus adds “don't worry – it's a deep rocky pool with a waterfall flowing into it – not a swirling vortex! It's locally known as the Fountain of Youth, so come swim off a few years.” Round off the tour by making a lasting impact on the local greenery. You'll plant a tree as part of a programme to support reforestation and sustainable farming in this part of Jamaica.
