What to expect

Join a guided tour through Berlin's famous government district! Follow an expert guide to the most interesting places and hear their exciting stories.

Your walk begins in front of the Futurium where you will have a view of the Chancellery. From here you will first discover the modern parliament buildings on the banks of the Spree River - the former borderline. This quarter is architecturally one of the absolute highlights of Berlin. Learn about the political everyday life of the Berlin Republic and in addition to the impressive buildings (Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, Paul-Löbe-Haus and Reichstagspräsidentenpalais), you will be especially surprised by the monuments, works of art and the Berlin Wall: German-German history in the middle of Berlin.

Your guide will leave you at the security check in front of the Reichstag building where the visitor service of the German Bundestag will be waiting for you (please register in writing beforehand). You will then be guided to the plenary hall and experience an informative lecture (free of charge).

Afterward, you can visit the dome and the roof terrace of the Reichstag at your own pace. From the dome you have a good view of the following Berlin sights: Potsdamer Platz with Sony Center and Bahntower, dome towers Gendarmenmarkt, Brandenburg Gate, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and City West, Gasometer and City Hall Tower Schöneberg, Victory Column and Teufelsberg, Pregnant Oyster and Chancellery, Central Station and Charite Building, dome New Synagogue and St. Sophia's Church, Alexanderplatz with TV Tower, dome from the Berlin Cathedral, Berlin City Hall and much more.

For parents with children, there is a very entertaining children's audio guide from the Bundestag for the walk in the dome.

What to remember
  • To visit the Bundestag on your own after the guided tour, you must pre-register at the Bundestag website (free of charge)
  • It is highly recommended to do this well in advance of your tour
  • After booking, you will receive e-mail instructions for the registration by e-mail after booking
  • Note, the German Bundestag requires the surnames, first names and dates of birth of all participants for registration, as these will be used for ID and security checks. You will submit this data online to the Bundestag yourself and receive an invitation for the visit
  • All participants over the age of 16 will have their identity documents (ID, driver's license, etc.) checked on site. The document must be brought in original, copies or photos of the document are not sufficient
  • All offers from the German Bundestag are generally free of charge, as the parliament is financed by taxpayers' money
  • The information lecture in the plenary hall (free of charge) can not be guaranteed
  • The individual visit of the glass dome and roof terrace (free of charge) on the Reichstag building cannot be guaranteed
  • Both depend on the current work situation of the parliament and on weather or security conditions. Even if you have already confirmed your visit to the dome, you must expect a cancellation at short notice on site
  • Note for all foreign participants: the guided tour as well as the explanation in the plenary hall will only take place in German
