Discover Nowa Huta, 'the new mill', a prime example of communist architecture and urban design, frozen in time on a 4-hour guided bike tour.
After starting your bike tour at the Cruising Krakow shop, you will ride east away from Krakow’s historic district. Your first historic stop in Nowa Huta will be the famous Church of our Lady, also known as the Ark, due to its vessel-like shape.
After taking a look inside the modern church you will maneuver through the many alleys of Nowa Huta’s residential areas to see some typical socialist architecture in the form of cinemas, theaters and schools.
Stray off of the beaten path to ride along Nowa Huta’s recreational lake before you reach the reason for Nowa Huta’s existence: Lenin’s steel mill plant.
Take a break and have lunch in a communist-style milk bar, one of the few that were already here during the communist era.
With new energy, you will set off to the recently renamed Ronald Reagan square before heading out through the many parks that divide Nowa Huta from Krakow’s city center. You will finish the tour with a nice ride along the banks of the Visula river all the way back to the shop.
