On this tour you will immerse yourself in the rich culture and history of Tinos island.
The tour starts from the new port of Mykonos, where you'll meet your correspondent and have a small briefing about the tour before embarking on a short 30-minute ferry ride to Tinos island.
Tinos houses one of the most important churches of Greece, which was built for the miraculous icon “Megalochari”. This church is the aim of pilgrimage for Greek people and from all over the world. Tinos was also inhabited by the Venetians for approximately 500 years, and as a result, there are many beautiful pigeon houses originating from that time, as well as numerous Catholic villages.
The island has many beautifully maintained traditional villages with many marble sculpturing decorated houses, crafted by local Tinian marble artists. Tinos is famous for its white and gray marble, which is taken from the local marble quarries and is also fitted in the Buckingham Palace and the Louvre of Paris. You'll visit churches, see valleys of the pigeon houses, traditional villages and the women’s monastery of Kechrovouni with its picturesque views and wonderful architecture.
You'll also stop in Pyrgos which is the main town of marble, where even the bus stop is of solid marble and visit a marble artist in his workshop. After that you'll visit the village of Volax, famous for its basket weaving tradition. Back in Tinos town, you'll have free time to relax at the harbor before making your way back to Mykonos by ferry.
